8. The wizard displays your hosts. Select the host or hosts on which you want to install the security
VM.
Note: The installer will give security VMs names based on the host name or IP address, as you
will see later.
9. Enter your Sophos Update folder details. This is the Sophos Anti-Virus network share that you
created earlier.
a)
Enter the location. Use a UNC path including the fully qualified domain name, or a web
address (if the share is on a web server).
For example:
\\<Your server name.domain name>\sophosupdate\CIDs\Sxxx\savvshield
Tip: To check the location, go to Enterprise Console. On the View menu, click Bootstrap
Locations and look for the "savvshield" share.
b) Enter the username and password. You (or another administrator) set up this user account
during Enterprise Console installation. It is described there as the "Update Manager" account
and most customers give it the username SophosUpdateMgr.
Note that:
If you specify a domain user, you must include the domain name.
The credentials are stored on the security VM.
10. Create a Support password.
You need this password in order to view your protected guest VMs. You also need it if you
want Sophos technical support to troubleshoot your installation remotely. They will use it to
collect logs, which you will be able to review before they are sent to Sophos.
You can use special characters and spaces in your password.
11. Select the time zone that the security VM will use to schedule scans.
12. Configure the IP settings for security VMs.
By default, IP addresses are assigned dynamically by DHCP. If your network policy requires
you to use static addresses, select that option and enter the details.
13. Select the type of datastore on which you want to install the security VM.
If you select Select from list of visible datastores for each host, a list is displayed.
The security VM protects all guest VMs on an ESXi host that have vShield Endpoint Thin Agent
installed, even if their templates are stored in different datastores.
14. Select a VM network. This enables the security VM to communicate with Enterprise Console.
The default is VM network.
15.
At the Summary of installation page, you can see full installation details, including your security
VM names. Click Install.
