Upgrading Version 4.1.1
50
ZenPacks.zenoss.ActiveDirectory
ZenPacks.zenoss.IISMonitor
ZenPacks.zenoss.MSExchange
ZenPacks.zenoss.MSSQLServer
ZenPacks.zenoss.WinModelerPlugins
ZenPacks.zenoss.ZenWinPerf
Resource Manager versions 4.2.2, 4.2.3, and 4.2.4 were distributed with the second-generation Windows mon-
itoring ZenPacks, which replaced ZenPacks.zenoss.WinModelerPlugins and ZenPacks.zenoss.ZenWinPerf with
ZenPacks.zenoss.WindowsMonitor. The second generation of ZenPacks are distributed in a separate RPM package,
which the procedure in this section installs.
This release of Resource Manager installs the third-generation Windows monitoring ZenPack,
ZenPacks.zenoss.Microsoft.Windows, by default. Previous generations of Windows monitoring ZenPacks are left
undisturbed, and no automatic migration is attempted. The second and third generations of Windows monitoring Zen-
Packs co-exist gracefully, and you may transition to the third generation monitoring capabilities at any pace.
However, the transition from the first to the second generation of Windows monitoring ZenPacks must happen during
this upgrade, if it has not already. Perform the procedure in this section if you have not previously installed the
second-generation Windows monitoring ZenPacks.
To install Windows Monitoring ZenPacks, follow these steps:
1. Log in to the Resource Manager master host as root, or as a user with superuser privileges.
2. Download the Windows Monitoring RPM file from the https://support.zenoss.com site. Contact your Zenoss rep-
resentative for login credentials.
3. Stop Resource Manager.
service zenoss stop
Occasionally, the stop command does not terminate all of the Resource Manager daemons. To check, enter the
following command:
pgrep -fl ${ZENHOME}
If the pgrep command returns a result, kill the processes.
pkill -f ${ZENHOME}
4. Start the event server and its catalog service.
su - zenoss -c "zeneventserver start; zencatalogservice start"
Install the ZenPacks.
yum -y --nogpgcheck localinstall zenoss_msmonitor-version.el5.x86_64.rpm
5. Start Resource Manager.
service zenoss start
7.9. Apply latest recommended patch set
Follow these steps to apply the latest 4.2.5 RPS.
