To specify a language keyboard map for VNC clients
1Useatexteditortoopentheconfigurationfile(.vmxfile)forthevirtualmachine
andaddthefollowinglines,where<port number>istheportnumbertouse:

codeforthelanguagetouse,suchasjpforJapanese:

Keyboard Mapping on a Linux Host
Severalsituationsmightrequireyoutosetpropertiesinavirtualmachine’s
configurationfile(.vmxfile)tochangethewayakeyismapped.
Configure Keyboard Mapping for a Remote X Server
SometimesthekeyboardworkscorrectlywithalocalXserverbutnotwhenyourunthe
samevirtualmachinewitharemoteXserver.Youneedtosetadditionalpropertiesin
theconfiguration(.vmx)file.
Beforeyoubegin,verifythattheremoteXserverisanXFree86serverrunningonaPC
.
Ifthekeyboarddoesno
tworkcorrectlyonanXFree86serverrunninglocally,reportthe
problemtoVMwaretechnicalsupport.
ForlocalXservers,WorkstationmapsXkeycodestoPCscancodestocorrectlyidentify
akey.WorkstationusesthiskeycodemaponlyforlocalXserversbecauseitcannotte
ll
whethera
remoteXserverisrunningonaPCoronsomeotherkindofcomputer.In
