Create or Edit an Access Control Policy
AfteryouenableACEfeaturesforavirtualmachine,youcancreateapolicytocontrol
whichenduserscanaccessaninstalledACEpackageandturnitintoanACEinstance.
ThispolicyalsocontrolswhichuserscanpoweronanACEinstance.
To create or edit an access control policy
1 SelecttheACE‐enabledvirtualmachineandchoo
seVM>ACE>Policies.
2Inthepolicyeditor,selectAccessControlandcompletethefieldsinthesettings
panel.
3ClickOK.
4VerifythatthenewsettingsappearcorrectlyontheACEtabinthevirtual
machine’ssummaryview.
Ifyouchangeanactivationsetting,thepolicytakeseffectwhenanewins
tance
fromthispackageisinstalledan
dactivated.Youcanalsoeditanimported
keywordlist.
5 (Optional)Tochangetheauthenticationsettingfromonetypetoanother,createa
policyupdatepackageanddistributeittotheuser.
Activation Settings
UseactivationsettingstocontrolwhichuserscanactivateanACEinstanceafteritis
installed.Theactivationdateisusedfortheexpirationpolicy.
IfyouuseanACEManagementServerwithActiveDirectory,thecontrolsinthe
ActivationsectionenableyoutoopentheActiveDirectoryUsersandGroupsdialog

machineonwhichWorkstationrunsmustbeinthesamedomainforwhich
theACEManagementServerisconfigured.User‐listchangesareeffectiveatthenext
startupoftheinstance.
IfyoudonotuseActiveDirectoryorifyouarecreatingstandaloneACEinstances,the
settingspanelinc
ludesthefollowingoption
sforactivationpasswordsorkeys:
None–Nopasswordorkeyisrequired.Anyusercanactivatethisinstance.
Password–Theusermustenterthepasswordthattheadministratorusesto
activatethisACEinstance.Youmustprovidetheuserwith thepasswordthrough
emailorothermeans.
ForstandaloneACE‐enabledvirtualmachines,yousetthepasswordduringthe
packagingprocess.
